Ophthalmic oncological surgery
In our practice, we offer the following eye microsurgery procedures:
- removal of the conjunctival pterygium. The procedure involves the removal of a conjunctival degenerative change from the conjunctiva, which consists in the ingrowth of pathological tissue into the structure of the cornea. Depending on the advancement of the lesion, we offer various treatment methods, including simple pterygium removal, pterygium removal with simultaneous auto conjunctival graft and conjunctival fixation with the use of tissue glue. In case of large pterygium lesion, we suggest using the amniotic membrane. We also have the option of applying additional therapy with the use of an antimetabolite, i.e. Mitomycin C, which significantly reduces the risk of pterygium recurrence.
- removal of conjunctival birthmarks, eyelid and facial skin birthmarks growing around the eyes with immediate histopathological analysis of the removed lesion and reconstructive surgery
- removal of conjunctival nodules and tumors as well as the eyelid and facial skin nodules and tumors growing around the eyes with immediate histopathological analysis of the removed lesion and reconstructive surgery
- chalazion removal
- removal of yellow tufts (xanthelasma)
CAUTION
The procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, under local anesthesia. The patient cannot drive right after the procedure and it is also recommended to come accompanied.
