This treatment combines two cutting-edge technologies: OPT (Optimized Pulsed Light) to brighten and even out skin tone, and ResurFX, a non-ablative fractional laser that stimulates the skin's natural renewal and collagen production.

Technology
How does Photofabulous work?
Step 1: OPT / IPL — improves unwanted pigmentation and vascular lesions, brightening and evening out the complexion. Light energy acts selectively on melanin and haemoglobin without damaging surrounding tissue.
Step 2: ResurFX — a fractional, non-ablative laser that stimulates new collagen and elastic fibres, enhancing skin smoothness and firmness. Controlled thermal injury triggers natural regeneration without a prolonged recovery period.
Combining both technologies in a single session achieves results far beyond what either method can deliver alone.

Treatment time and plan
A session typically takes under one hour, with minimal downtime — temporary redness or slight swelling may occur but usually resolves within a few hours to a few days.
For best results, a course of several treatments is usually recommended; your practitioner will design a personalised plan tailored to your skin type and concerns.
After every session, SPF 50 sun protection and gentle skincare are essential, as advised by your doctor.
Procedure
Step by step — why is it recommended to be performed by an ophthalmologist?
1. Consultation and assessment
Your doctor examines your skin, discusses your expectations, checks for any contraindications and explains the treatment plan.
2. Skin cleansing
The skin is carefully cleansed to remove make‑up, creams and impurities so that the light and laser work evenly across the surface.
3. Eye protection
The ophthalmologist applies special certified eyeshields or safety glasses that protect the eyes from IPL light and the effects of the erbium laser. The eyes must be particularly protected during the procedure; only an ophthalmologist or someone trained by one can provide the most professional level of eye safety.
4. Step 1 — OPT / IPL
A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area, and the handpiece is placed on the skin. A series of short light pulses is delivered over the whole area; you may feel warmth or a light "snap" on the skin.
5. Step 2 — ResurFX fractional resurfacing
After the IPL phase, the practitioner passes the ResurFX handpiece over the same or selected areas. You usually feel a warm sensation and mild tingling; most patients do not need anaesthetic, or only a numbing cream is used.
6. End of session
The gel is removed and a soothing cream or mask is applied, followed by sun protection (SPF).
7. Immediately after treatment
The skin may be red and slightly swollen for a few hours up to a few days. You will receive written aftercare instructions, including moisturisation and sun protection guidance.
